 En route I'm carrying kit in order to rough camp and to service and maintain my bike. I'll also have medical supplies in case of illness or injury and a few luxury items. I’ll add performance reports here in order to assist anyone else planning their own cycle tour. I have added links to my favourite bits of kit. I don't carry everything listed here with me! It would be far too much gear. This is a list of everything I collated and considered. The gear I don't usually carry with me is in italics. I often swap the kit I carry for other kit at home. For example I needed lots of clothes for cycling through the European winter and in Africa I needed a water filter and Shimano sandals. The total weight of the bike is around 20 kg and the gear comes to around 35 kg. Add another 5 kg for water.
